OU Lissa and Cy Wagnor Student Learning Center
Norman, Oklahoma
This facility is a student learning center for the University of Oklahoma. The structural system is structural steel with braced frames and with brick and cast stone veneer walls. The roof framing supports an overbuilt gabled roof. Vibration is a major concern in designing the structure, as classrooms are located on the second floor of the structure and, in order to create an acceptable classroom environment, vibrations must be kept to a minimum. Also, the mechanical equipment is housed at the roof level in a contained area, which also requires damping for vibration control. For these areas, a composite structural steel and concrete slab system was selected.
