The new facility is a multistory classroom building and conference center with a 9,631 SF (1000 person capacity) FEMA rated Safe Room on the first floor. The structure of the facility consists primarily of structural steel beams and columns, steel braced frames, and cast-in-place concrete stair and elevator shafts. The FEMA Safe Room consists of load-bearing concrete shear walls, concrete pan joists and beams, and concrete columns. Mr. Bocox was the structural Engineer-of-Record for the facility.
